xbox online/network problems

hi , i have a chipped box and cannot play network or online. i can connect to my pc fine and transfer stuff but whenever i try to lay halo online or network it won't !! it gets to the searching for games screen but cannot find anything !

can anyone help ? i know on the dashboard (evolution X i think) it has like network options , do i need to change these ?

right , here are the settings as displayed by the evo x settings screen :

Network

ethernet mac address : 00:50:F2:87:CC4
setup netwrok : yes
use static ip : yes
IP : 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask : 255.255.255.0
Default gateway : 192.168.0.1
DNS : 0.0.0.0
DNS : 0.0.0.0

connect to friends xbox or my pc , put halo in , get to screen where it says searching for other machine then nothing happens !!

any ideas ?!?!

do u have the same region copy of halo as the rest of the network? i e both uk or both usa?

Are you using a crossover cable for connecting two xboxes?

And, another obvious one, you are hosting a game on the other machine?

yep , cable is fine , like i said i can connect with thesame cable to pc to ftp

and have tried hosting on both machines still no luck

Is your version of Halo the G.O.T.Y edition becasue there are some bad copies of it around that don't like system linked games both on a network or over the internet. MS will replace the disc for you free of charge if it is.
