Importing a steam game

I'm after picking up Civ5 for the mac, but as it's not on the Japanese site, so I wondered if I import the game from the US if it will still work here?

Yep. It will work fine if you buy a retail copy or have another steam user gift it to you.

You can possibly buy it from the UK Store directly. When I emailed Valve and told them I was moving to Japan for a while and what the implications would be, they told me to buy from there instead.

After registering it seems that there maybe some problems cos of being in Japan. My UK visa card, and even paypal accounts keep getting err or messages.
