    Thunderstruck TV

Hmm, massive lightning storm over my town last night, woke up this morning and Panasonic v1042" - dead, wireless router/cordless phone - dead
    360 works, pc works (somehow)
    ps3 semi dead

Whats irking me is at the time the TV was plugged into a 60 quid belkin surge protector, and actually off at the mains as was all other things in my house (3am in the morning the storm hit, i was asleep - well until the thunder) Neighbours tv is fine but their PC is dead...pretty random.

Maybe its worth me typing down the TV diagnostic in case its fixable, basically it turns on the light goes green, then it powers off and the light goes red and flickers 14 times, pauses, then repeats. Well ive tried most of the sort of off the cuff fixes i can think of and nada.

Oh well thank god its in warranty...i guess....what a hassle

Doesn't the belkin cover you for £xm?

I'm disappointed after reading the thread headline to find this wasn't a new, dedicated AC/DC music channel.

How does a surge get through a wall switch that is turned off?!

my surge protector has sockets for arials/phone and sky, but dont use em as i lose channels when routed through the protector.

makes me think about using them now.

Ultra high voltage will bridge the gap left by the switch with a spark.

i remember a few years ago when we had dial upconnection for the computer.....dad unplugged all power sockets but forgot the 56k modem lead...fried the computer

had one tv go wrong after a power cut....though i suspect its probably some kind of internal fuse but cannot find any info about it online (its a bush 20" i think) bizzare thing was though had a power cut before and it didnt work...then all of sudden started working ok

Yeah the ps3 has had the network adapter inside it fried via the router no doubt, (strangely my PC actually lived, maybe the ps3 took the brunt). ps3 still boots up, but the network light is on constantly, doesnt recognise the cable or wireless, amongst other things, then bums out and crashes.

Well....guess im going to have to play thro Resi5 AGAIN to get mercs, fking locked saves

                      Ive lost everything :'(
Its all kind of getting on top of me now....you know i think i might just trade in all my ps3 games for a new console, just buy killzone 3 and say sod it all my previous games/saves
