Jap GC Soul Calibur 2 save prob

I got me a brand new minty Jap Soul Calibur 2 when I got my Jap Gamecube but for the life of me I can't get the game to save to the memory card. The other games I got like FZero and PN03 save perfectly to the card, it's just bleeding Soul Calibur that won't. I get some Japanese on the save screen and it indicates that I've got to confirm something, but when I do nowt happens. I'm probably being a bit dumb somewhere down the line I think but if anyone has had the same problem or if they know a workaround I'd be grateful.

BTW the Gamecube is the Tales of Symphonia LE if that makes a difference.

U have to put a Jap Formated memory card,
or
a blank memory card and press Y on that screen

Ahh excellent stuff! It seems all I was missing was pushing the Y button, everything's ok now. Sorry for sounding like a doofus. Cheers man
