I had something similar I believe in the VDIGI HDMI upscaler and I found that a load of old chod, but this may be worth a punt.

All it will do is move the analogue to digital conversion from inside your TV to inside this new device. There's probably no point - unless you want to free up a component connection.Comment

I just want a digital true 480p signal, don't want any upscalers. As long as it does that job i'm happy. At $40, i guess its worth a punt.Comment

You aren't getting a true digital 480p signal - the Wii doesn't have digital output capability. That device is just taking the analog output and converting it to digital, the same way any LCD/Plasma TV would.
Besides, analog is not inherently bad.
I'd be curious to see a Wii with digital video output, but that would involve some soldering at the very least - if it's possible at all.Comment
