    Vagrant Story Advice

Ok, I'm just running through this game for the first time. I'm having quite a laugh. I'm pretty early on, just got through the dungeon to Lea Monde, and when I walk around a corner there's a cutscene with a boss fight at the end. There are two guys in armour, and a spellcaster.

My main problem is that whenever I hit them, I do maybe only 8 or 9 damage on the first few hits, and then after that I only do 3 at the maximum, and miss a lot. I've kept an eye on my Risk meter, and I don't let it get too high. I've even brought it down to 0, but to no avail. I did try changing weapons, but no matter what I changed it to, it just hurt them a couple of times, and then started missing.
Now, I've managed to damage them properly through Raging Ache, but that means that I have to stop healing myself. THAT just means that I get slaughtered whenever the wizardy guy uses his horrible Explosion Lv.1 spell, so I can't do that.
And anyway, I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

    Can anybody help?

BTW, my main weapon is a sword, with a crystal attached to give me a little extra affintity to killing humans...

You mean that Duane guy, right (been a while since I played it, but I think that's right)?

Can't remember exactly what I did but since the guys are in armor you'll probably want a piercing weapon if you're not using one. Can't think of much else really .

I can't remember enjoying too many games as much as I did Vagrant Story, might have to dig it out again..

With VS, you really need to specialise your weapons and swop between them so they gains a really high level of use against a small subset of bad dudes.

Beyond that, I don't really have any advice, because if you've gotten there now and you've got crappy weapons, you're just going to have to hope for the best and chain like crazy...

          Ok, cheers guys.
I guess I'll just have to hammer away at them.
I thought I was developing the weapons ok, but I guess I was wrong.
          Back to the workshop/drawing board!

if i remember correctly, those guys in the armour need to be hit with piercing weapons, but also have weakspots where the armour connects eg in the neck and arms,

not 100% sure, but i remember getting stuck at that point also.
