    Strange PC Power Problem

    Hey all,

Last night I went to turn my pc on and nothing happened, I spent awhile trying to figure it out and got to the point where I assumed the PSU had given out, I then tried turning the wall socket off which my multi plug adapter is plugged into and all my pc bits are plugged into the adapter, then I turned it back on and suddenly my pc worked, thing is after everytime I turn my pc off it won't boot unless I switch the wall socket off and on again.

I have no idea what is going on and why turning the wall socket off and on seems to fix things, anyone have any ideas?

I have a similar if not same problem. My PC tends to not switch on until it's been connected to the mains power for no less than a few minutes.

Have you tried a different multi adapter?

I'd bin that one tbh, the fire risk if there is something dodgy about just isn't work the couple of quid for a new one.

dodgy solder or capacitor on the circuit dealing with power switch is possible.

The 'listener' circuit for the power button gets hot when the current runs through it, expands and creates a gap in the circuit. Turning of the power cools it down and it takes a while to get hot enough to break the circuit again.

          Only speculation though.
