Probably impossible, but worth a shot - 360 serials

Erm, I sold a fully working 360 on ebay recently, and it was sent via overnight courier and packaged well. I get a message from the buyer the next day saying it has red ringed. I am surprised because I imagine it would have done it eventually, but not *overnight* in transit.

I have a sneaking suspicion they might be trying to pull a fast one and stupidly I didn't write down the serial before I sent it, quite why I have no idea, wasn't thinking.

Is there any way to get a list of console serials I've used on live? I've only been on a month. I can visually tell if its the one I sent I think as it had a sticker mark on top where I removed a big xbox 360 sticker, so a white square was left.

However I didn't even take a photo of that before, so I have no proof as such, even if I contest it it doesn't stop them doing a paypal chargeback and probably winning.

    help!

If you log into your Xbox account on Xbox.com you should be able to look at the consoles you've used to purchase items on XBL.

License migration or something, then the details of the console you use will be displayed via serial.

      Hmm, found this

But it only lists my Console ID's? And not serials.

      Well, it did, just now.

It certainly comes up if you've ever sent the console in for repair. If you check your previous repairs history or similar.

On https://myservice.xbox.com use the repair my console link to find your details if you have registered it.
Just email them with words to the effect that you'll check it against the recorded serial number when they have returned it etc etc. Also check the sticker is still intact which I'm guessing it was when you sold it.
If they are genuine they'll agree. Then you'll have to take the hit on postage again or just refund them.

Erm, it was an xclamp fixed machine and apart from going on live with it for a week or so, I never 'registered' it anywhere.

I'm screwed aren't I? I managed to find the console ID in my downloaded stuff settings on xbl, and hopefully when the machine comes back I can check that information on the console.

If you think you're being conned just request that they send back the 360 for a full refund. Do this through the ebay claim proccess and you'll at least get the 360 back and only lose out of the cost of postage.

I have asked they send it back and get a refund, yeah I guess I'll lose out on the £12 postage, but a dead 360 is useless to me. Erm, if its actually the one I sent, then fair enough thats the end of it and I'll sell it on ebay again as dead, but the main point of this topic was if I could prove it was a different one, I should be able to now I've got the console ID and the sticker situation. But actual PROOF to show ebay and avoid getting a paypal chargeback anyway, is a different matter.

I've also decided to warn them via a message that I have to protect my back also and will know if a different machine has been sent back, maybe that will make them wonder if it's worth it if they're not being genuine. Who knows.

The x-clamp 'fix' doesn't work so they could be being totally honest and it's gone wrong on them on start up.

The console ID that you've seen on xbox.com is printed on the back of the label so if by some chance it doesn't boot it is printed.

Yeah, I just read about that also, but cheers for the advice

@nick: she could indeed be telling the truth and if so that's perfectly fine and she'll get a refund.

Hope my slim doesn't go the same way in a few months or a year or more

i hope the slim doesnt go the same way , i only bought one as a backup for my day elite console which has red ringed already once. I thought the slims were pretty rock solid from what i heard

And before anyone asks why i have a backup is that i got it cheaper (250gb version) than the 4gb version. God bless firends wives who work for catalogues.

They are just as bad as the phat 360's, RDOD (red doth of death) overheating, drive errors.... the list goes on.
