Can I use a PAL MD1 PSU (AC 10V 1.2A) on a PAL SNES?

If not, does anyone know of a cheap generic psu that will work for a PAL SNES? Perhaps one of those voltage switchable ones?

I thought the MD1 PSU was DC? Unusually, the UK/PAL SNES is AC, which is why it's a troublesome one to power. Obviously a switchable PSU is going to work if you have the right settings dialled in.

I just checked again and my MD1 psu definately says "AC Mains adapter", it's the official one too. Does that mean it will work on PAL SNES?

When it says "AC Mains adapter", I assume it means adapting the AC current which runs from all wall sockets to DC. The way to tell is if you see these symbols:

Ah ok, thanks guys. The MD1 power supply does indeed output DC. I'll get one from Dan's link. Oddly enough I used to run my old US SNES using a generic PSU. I've just checked and it outputs DC which is a bit confusing.


Edit: Just did a bit of reading and found out the US SNES is firmly DC only but the PAL SNES can use either AC or DC and will in fact work fine with any adapter you have lying around the house as long as it'll plug into the SNES socket. Source:

I use a multi-voltage adapter from Maplins myself, worked just fine for the last 4 or 5 years.
