360 Dead Space 2 code issue

Has anyone had problem with the codes for Dead Space 2? None of mine work such as the online pass, Dead Space Ignition or even the short code to play online. In fact I can't even select the option to enter it or buy a code. All I can do is choose the 2 day trial. Oh, and where the hell is my special present for signing up the iPhone Dead Space game? They said you'd be able to have a special download for the console version.

EA always manage to annoy me every time!

Finally discovered the solution! Seems all of us living in Japan have the exact same problem for download codes and online pass.

After sending like 5 e-mails to EA Customer Support and getting their replies (none worked) I found a thread from a Japanese page which explained our problem.

If you play Dead Space 2 US or Asian version with a Japanese gamertag, since regions don't match you can't use -or even enter- the online pass. It's that simple.
Fortunately, the solution is simple too: create a gamertag from, say, HK if you're playing the Asian version, or the US if you're playing the American one. You don't need to suscribe to Live, the free version is fine.
Then proceed to donwload Ignition and enter the online pass for Multiplayer.

Even the online pass is a download, and you can use it with any user (Gamertag) in your Xbox 360.

Thanks Magusgulf I also have this problem as I used to live in Japan and now back in the U.K. For the PS3 version I need to use my U.K account to play online? Problem explained below along with Yakumo's post on the Dead Space 2 thread and mine. My Dead Space 2 and NFS:HPS are U.K versions my PS3 is Japanese.

Did anyone import Dead Space 2 and find that NONE of the codes work? F+ing bloody EA F*cking it up for the gamer again.

None of the redeem codes will work for me nor can I even play multiplayer because it won't allow me to enter the code needed (What sort of bull **** is that anyway?) and I can't even buy a pass code, not that I need to because I have an original Asian NTSC-J game.

Do you think EA is blocking my redeem codes because my IP Address is Japan which is technically a different area although this is an NTSC-J region coded game.

I'm pretty pissed off about this.

I have the same problem with NFS: HPS and now Dead Space 2. Tried to enter the code in the XMB code screen and it's not having it. My PS3 is Japanese, my main account is Japanese, perhaps this is the problem? Not tried my English account but all my trophies etc are tied to my Japanese account. Does this mean no online EA games forever unless I use the English account? Even then it may still see my PS3 as Japanese. I noticed on Gran Turismo and Marvel Vs Capcom 3 it thinks I'm in Japan as it has a Japanese flag. I was in Japan but not at the mo. Any way around this EA stupidity? Thanks if anyone else can help us. My Dead Space 2 game is European.

P.S on NFS: HS and Dead Space 2 it will not allow me to purchase a code or redeem on the games screen either.

Hi Ju; what at least worked for me in Dead Space 2 is creating an user (gamertag) from the country the game is, downloading the extras and the online pass with that uset, and then reverting to my regular gamertag and playing.

You see,the game just checks if your user is the same region as the game the first time. Whatever you download/unlock with that temporary user, you are free to use with whatever other user stored in the same console.

At least it worked for Xbox 360. They don?t check where your console is from, just the user. I?m pretty sure the mechanism should be the same for PS3 because you have worldwide game compatibility.

I'll try that, NFS would not let me use my save data on the U.K account it said "save data is from another account, do you want to overwrite". so will try to unlock the pass like you said on both games and see if I can get it working using my U.K account. Thanks for the tips will report back soon.

Thank so much magusgulf it worked for Dead Space 2. NFS says pass is not valid it may have expired, both games were preowned. Still the online pass idea is ridiculous. I'm not payin 7.99 for the NFS pass.
