Yes, that's was from me applying the new template before it locked me out. It's just an index page really - I can log in and get beyond that. Or at least I could if I could get it to stop timing out and actually connect.

Your ISP should of provided you with a link to access the site via the IP.

See if that works instead. If it does then it sounds like something DNS related

Nope, using the IP does the same thing. Support guy on the phone could get to it using the IP, but I still get timed out.

I don't understand how it's only me that can be effected by this. Surely flushing / altering the DNS should have resolved this?

        This is driving me nuts.

So you can ping the ip through the command prompt but not reach the ip through firefox? Have you tried pinging the domain name through command prompt?
If it pings then you probably have an issue with firefox, but if it doesnt then you probably have a dns issue.

If its a dns issue and you cant access it after changing to an open dns, then its a local dns issue and you should check your local hosts file as well as router settings.

            Sorry scratch that, just misread

You cant connect to IP through command prompt or other device through the router but can directly from the router. So it has to be an issue with the router settings (and defo not DNS).

Is that IP listed anywhere in the router's settings? I'm guessing you've tried resetting the router.

I can ping the web address as well as the IP through the command prompt. I don't think it's a firefox issue through as Chrome and IE all do the same.

Changing the DNS makes no difference and I've gone through the local hosts file and there's nothing in there - as in, the last entry is

              # 127.0.0.1 localhost
              # ::1 localhost
which is what I think it should be?

In terms of router settings I dunno what else to change. I've been through everything including turning the firewall and NAT off, it's the same. Thing is, no settings were changed in between last week when it worked and yesterday when it didn't.

Hosting company say there's no block on any IP. ISP say they can see the site fine but I can't.

Can someone explain any possible reasons why I can see the site when going through a proxy but not without? Would that be a DNS issues too?

Just seen your second post - if I ping the address from the router it also says it can see it (which doesn't make sense).

Any ideas of what to start changing in the router config?

You can ping it? I'm pinging it as 64.6.241.13 at mo, and if I go to http://64.6.241.13/ I get the "server default page" as opposed to console arcade.

Are you getting a 404 at that address?

I'm guessing that my dns is out of date and pointing to the old server?

Edit: Maybe not... an external site also lists the same IP, is that the one you get when pinging console-arcade.com ?

That's the IP it gives me too.

I can't even get that default page (which is a blank blue page so the ISP guy told me this morning). It times out on trying that.

Yeah I get the blank blue page, which is as you would expect. Your hosts file is fine, and the issue is likely not dns related, otherwise you would get the blue page.

Try this link in case its a typo issue, otherwise I'm thinking you have an issue with that specific IP and your local browsers, which seems weird. You should try that exact same address in your mobile through the wireless too, as if that is working you have at least isolated the problem to your local machine.

                          That link didn't work either.

Just browsed it on the mobile - 64.6.241.13 and www.console-arcade.com both time out. Take it off the wireless network and put it on the mobile and it loads to the blue screen and maintenance page respectively.

Does this mean it's likely to be a router issue?

Yeah gotta be either router or network related. If its not your router, it could be a faulty cache somewhere along the network... which would really suck (something I've not had much experience of but have heard happen before). Only way to really tell is to try another router... does your ISP permit that?

Maybe just backup your router settings then do a hard reset, see if it works after that.

I have a Belkin knocking around here somewhere as a spare but it's not the most reliable of beasts. Will try that if I have no luck with the hard reset I'm just about to do... see you on the other side...
