Repair PS1 laser?

I have an old PS1 chunky (the early one I think with the bewildering cart? parallel looing port on the back). Last time I used it, it only worked upside down. Is this easily fixed?

Presumably with the small amount of use it will get, the repair will last a while.

Have you ever adjusted the pot on it?

That worked for me for a while until the laser completely died. I now need to replace the laser, someone linked to a seller in the retro forum but I don't think the thread was about PS1 lasers.

I also need one for the original chunky model.

PS1 lasers are universal. I recommend getting one from a PSone (SCPH-102) and shoving it in. Gonna do this for my DTL-H1100 soonish, as well as get the official grey SCART and have a dedicated PS1 setup.. lol
