Is this megadrive modded?

The brown wire in this pal megadrive 2 console looks like a region or HZ mod to me but there's no switches anywhere. I've ran it via an RF cable (oh the indignity) as it's only cable I currently have so I presume it's currently 50hz.

Any ideas?

The Mega Drive 1 has 3 instances like that. Made me wonder too.
