    Potential Dreamcast website

Im in the process of creating a hub site for everything Dreamcast related.

Im pretty sure ive got most of the criteria catered for but if anyone would be kind enough to post what they would expect/want from such a site it would be appreciated.

I want to make it as complete as possible and for it to be a real source for reference.

    Thanks!

    Great idea!

I trust you will cover the homebrew scene and hopefully the hardware mod scene as well. There are some really interesting hardware mods around if you manage to sift through all the blue power leds and ugly paint jobs. Dreamcast History handles the official hardware side pretty well, but I kind of miss the third party and homebrew side of it, which imho is essential to the full experience.

I'd also like information on the arcade incarnations such as Naomi and Atomiswave.

I guess I'm a bit of a hardware fetishist - unreleased games don't interest me half as much as these things do...

Hi Peet, Thanks for the reply!

As of two weeks ago I was an admin over at dcemulation so the emu/homebrew side is going to be one of the main aspects of the site.

Naomi/Naomi-GD/Naomi 2 and Atomiswave features are already in the making so you should enjoy it

I can't stress how much detail is going to be in this site, Hopefully any Dreamcast owner will be able to find every piece of info 1998-2003+ for all regions.

Its a huge undertaking and im hoping for a Dec/Jan opening, with a steady stream of info and updates.

There will be a forum as well.

I'd like to see a complete list of all Dreamcast releases by region (possibly with cover art, and maybe a price guide.

Probably too much to expect, but something like this would have helped me a while ago when I was valuing my DC collection.

          Hi mate,

Good luck with the site first of all, nice to see a new one appearing.

I'd like to see a lot of detail on the limited edition Dreamcast section, as a lot of the sites on the web (even dreamcast history) are quite innacurate, and their pictures arent all that good.

          Thanks

DCemulation is a fantastic site! I used to go there all the time. I learned how to burn many unofficial discs, including the Spectrum emulator & Quake!

Complete hardware listings would be nice. Esp the limited stuff.
I started collecting the VMUs a year ago and am finding it hard to find a complete list anywhere.

Just a matter of the time scale.

Keep the wants and ideas coming.

                  Admin eh?

Yeah, I've seen that you post there, so I figured it was pretty much a given.

Perhaps with PAL releases you could state whether they have the 50/60hz mode or not.

Also you could do a piece on all the different peripherals and their third party counterparts.

I.E - the official Rod, versus the unofficial one.

Samba maracas versus cha cha maracas.

                      Excellent idea Kron

tbh, I'd love a dreamcast hardware fixing section, the amount of times i've had to trawl the web looking for tutorials on how to fix random problems with dreamcasts pisses me off sometimes. So possibly tutorials on how to fix problems such as broken controller ports, random resetting, dodgy laser drives, stuff like that.

Or just provide links to places that already did it :P

EDGE magazine wrote that there is a MD emu for DC supporting 400+ MD games. Something I would like to read more about.

Looking forward to the new site Kron

There's a hacked version of the Sega Smash Pack which lets you run any game with the emulator. It really is very good, although the FM sound emulation is often out of tune, but apart from that it's not bad.
