    DirectX 10?

    Any advice much appreciated.

I've been trying to emulate the PS2 and apparently DirectX 10 would help, but I can't seem to find a download link. Microsoft has a huge variety but I don't know if I should install DX 11.

My onboard graphics card is a GeForce series 8 based GF8100VM-M5 motherboard which supports DirectX 10 but I don't know if that means it can handle DX 11.

Also, do I have to uninstall previous versions of DirectX?

Please advise, I have no clue when it comes to this stuff.

It can handle DX11, however it won't be able to support the new features.
First, check the DirectX version installed: open the start menu and type dxdiag in the run field. If you have Win7 you'll have DX11 already installed, Vista comes with DX10 I think.

There is no way of installing a previous version without uninstalling the existing version first.

However you should have no DX issues in running PS2 emulation.

Thanks b k, apparently I already have DX 11 installed, as I'm on Windows 7.

I checked the settings also and it confirmed it.

As I said before, I am clueless when it comes to this stuff.

What's weird is an app I ran a few months ago (I think) claimed I didn't have Direct X installed, so I installed an older version. Which is weird since I thouh if you have a later version already you can't install an older version without uninstalling the later version first.

Was DX11 part of the Windows 7 install or via an update?

DX11 come with Win7, no update/install required. If you ran an installer for a previous version it did nothing, as it wouldn't have installed anything, it probably showed the "install complete" dialog and nothing else.

The DirectX updater installs the latest 'revisions' of files which some games rely on. But there isn't a specific download for DirextX 10 or 11, you will already have it.
