Solid State Drive advice

[Supergoal]

I've been using an SSD for about 5 months now, only to be plagued with constant problems of BSOD, program freezes and crashes and random weirdness.

Can anyone recommend a good bit of software that could possibily scan my SSD for errors and identify if it is really the SSD that's causing me constant problems?

Even this morning, I installed Skype which crashed immediately when it started up. The crash screen wouldn't clear from my screen even with bringing up desk manager and trying to close it that way.
Not only that, but I had to uninstall messenger as it crashed every 5 minutes like clockwork.
I just get the feeling there's a few bad sectors on the SSD, so when a program installs on top of it it goes screwy.

What drive is it? The manufacturer might have a program.

No problems with my Corsair one, which is now installed in my ASRock ION 330HT running Win 7.

Is it old or new..?

I'll have to check who made it when I get home from work, but it's my second ssd since getting the computer. First drive was the cause apparently of my pc refusing to boot.
Yet it looks like it's happening again with the new drive.

Take note of what the BSOD displays, it's an important clue on what is happening.

Have you tried to update the motherboard BIOS? For example I have to use a beta BIOS with my Gigabyte EX58-UD5 or I'll get a SMART error during boot; while this error does not stop the PC from working, it's annoying to see.

I haven't had a BSOD since I reinstalled my system a few weeks ago.
Now it just seems programs crash randomly.
I'll try updating the motherboard BIOS but I doubt it's that.

My boss had the same thing with a ~12 month old Kingston SSD... increasing bad sectors that only registered as program errors and BSODs until windows wouldnt even start. We couldn't fix it and he ended up buying a new OCZ and doing a fresh install of everything.

I highly recommend you back up everything of importance to you asap (and then send it back to seller for a replacement)
