    PS3 internet connection problem

    Hi all,

I've been having this problem for a while. Sometimes when I switch on my PS3, or every time I sign into PSN my internet goes down and I sometimes have to restart the router. Another problem I have been having recently is, when I am signed into PSN and I need an update for a game, it freezes during the update and I have to stop it and start again. The game update freeze also causes my net to go down at times.

Initially I thought it was a wireless issue, but it is doing the same thing with an ethernet cable.

No problems with my 360s, wired or wireless.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

I have a rubbish net connection and it doesn't take much for the same thing to happen. Sometimes it drops to a few kb a second, other times it just dies completely!

What I do is remove all other computers from my wired router, start the PS3 download, don't surf the net while doing so, and pray...

If there's a technical solution to this (and it's not the fault of my provider), I'd also like to hear it.

I had similar problems with my old router, connecting anything wirelessy would often require me to reset it and sometimes it had problems keeping internet active when a console asked for an IP; for some reasons it never had any troubles with PCs signing in and off the local network, but consoles often required a reboot.
Wired ethernet ports eventually died off, forcing me to replace it; the new and current one never had any of these problems.
In my experience it was a problem with the DHCP server, maybe assigning static IPs through the router configuration menu would solve line dropping problems.
