    Dodgy 60hz TV

I have a Sumsung 14'' TV (about 2yrs old), just for the bedroom and I normally play my Dreamcast on it. The TV can play 60hz games, however when I connected to my PS2 and play 60hz games, there is no colour, just black and white?? Any replies would be most gratefull.

You will need RGB Scart cable for colour on PS2. and it is unlikely your portable TV will support it.

You could use this excuse to treat yourself a nice 28 inches widescreen TV for gaming

From what I remember the PAL DC outputs a 60hz signal as PAL60 whereas the PAL PS2 still outputs a 60hz signal as NTSC so you're TV is capable of displaying PAL60 but not NTSC. However, as Legendary says, if you get an RGB cable that will allow you to get colour.

Don't know why Legendary doesn't think your TV will support RGB. If it's only 2 years old (and has a SCART socket) I would think you're pretty safe.

So an RGB cable should sort it out?

            Yeah.

I think C is right - the PAL PS2 outputs 60Hz as NTSC. Your TV can handle PAL60 but not a pure NTSC signal.

I would thought most portable TV wouldn't have RGB Scart socket. just a plain scart socket.

This is why I suggest a new TV

Will Game sell RGB cable? Checked on their site and no results.

Try Gamestation. I bought a new PS2 RGB cable from there last week (Logic 3 cable)

Larger more expensive TV's would be safe, but 14" will probably not have rgb. The ability to display 60Hz is not a guarantee it will do rgb. Annoying but true. In fact one thing that I thought of... If a tv does rgb does it always have 2 scart plugs (the other one for svid)? Does anyone have a TV with 1 scart that definitely does rgb?

My old TV (21" Panasonic) had one socket and that was definitely RGB

Sony 14" portables have all had RGB support for the last 10 or 11 years now and they all only had one SCART socket.

We have 3 portable TVs at home. All have 1 SCART socket and all support RGB and 60Hz - even the 9-year-old one that is on its last legs.

In fact, everyone I know who has a portable TV with SCART can use RGB on it.

Strangely enough my little 14" Phillips Tv (5 years old) does RGB whilst my main 21" Matsui (2 years old) doesn't. Very irritating!

Your other option (if no RGB) is to get a NTSC=PAL converter which lets you play through the RF socket....image quality isn't SCARt but its cheaper then a new telly!
