GTX 580 GPU - system wont boot

I just replaced my graphics card: 8800gts 320mb with GTX 580, now the system won't power on. The motherboard lights come on, but the system won't power on

    My specs are:

    Asus Rampage II Extreme
    i7 gulftown 3.33Ghz CPU
    12gb of geil ram
x1 intel 160gb SSD drive (OS)
    x2 7200 rpm hard drives
    Thermaltake 1200watt PSU
    GTX 580 3gb edition GPU

When I have this all set up, the system won't power on. When I put my old 8800GTS 320mb card back in, everything works perfectly! What the hell is going on?!

If the graphics card getting enough power? I've not seen one but guessing it'll take at least two plugs.

      That's correct. 1 6pin and 1 8pin.

      Both plugged.

All I can suggest then is testing it another PC. Could be a faulty card.

          Hi Matt.

          It's working now. I needed to use x3 6pin power connectors :|

          x2 6pin - 8 pin adaptor

          and

          x1 6pin

Do modern power supplies have these connections as standard or do you use adapters from molex connections?

Modern PSUs have these as standard. I am told that using molex adapters is not recommended.
