    FFS, PS3 has no picture.

What is this I don't even? I've turned it on about five times in two months, and now it appears to be broken. It's sending a signal to the TV (HDMI) but it's not actually displaying anything. I've got a blank screen.

Googling suggests that literally every PlayStation owner in the world has had this issue, so what can I do to fix it? Everyone is suggesting pressing the power button down until I hear some magical sequence of beeps but that's not having any effect.

Useless POS. It's a 250gb Slim machine, if it makes a difference.

    Recently upgraded the firmware?
Is the HDMI cable a cheap one?
    This combo can cause problems.

Have you tried using the Composite cable that came with it? Or have you got a PS2 component lead lying around you could try?

You've made a typo in the thread title - shouldn't it should read:

      "PS3 has no games"

      rofl lolzors etc

      *ahem*

As FSW said, try the HDMI. John Par... sorry, JP posted on here a while ago that he had problems after the latest firmware update with third party HDMI cables but the official ones worked.

          You spotted my inspiration

It is a cheap cable, but it's been working fine, it even worked last night. I haven't upgraded the firmware or done anything since, and now nothing.

Just plugged it in via scart and was sick in my mouth at the mere thought of what I was doing. On that input, when it's plugged in with HDMI too, I get a screen that goes "hey, yo, we all detect a HDMI input and ****? Wanna get that dude switched over?"

So I goes, "yeah, man" and then switch my TV to HDMI.

          BLANK SCREEN.

So, try another HDMI cable? Well that's gonna take ages

A long shot, but try holding down the power button for a couple of seconds when you turn it on until you hear a beep. This will reset the video settings to factory default.

New HDMI cable came today, and the old one's started working again. FML.
