GC memory cards - no BS explanation

Im using a PAL GC with freeloader. So far the only import game i have is ikaruga and it sits happily with my pal saves.

What exactly are the problems with having different regions on one memory card? I ask because i have a US VJ on the way and i dont want to save and see a years hard work go down the drain.

When using freeloader there is no issue.

You cannot put JPN saves from a JPN machine on the same card as USA/PAL saves.

Also be careful when playing JPN games through a freeloader, because there is at least one which checks for a JPN formatted card when you save (Mr Driller) and if it isnt, it attempt to do that format, thus wiping all of your games.

As a rule when I used freeloader, I put my JPN saves on another card just to be sure, even though it wasnt 100% necessary.

You will never have an issue between USA and PAL saves.
