Is it worth investing it a SATA III Interface card if i go for a SATA III drive?

no unless its a SSD drive

From what i can gather the older magnetic drives can not get close to the full speed of Of sata II let alone III

That drive you linked to is SATA III, are you saying it can't do 6Gb/s?

really doubt it works with sata II and seems a pretty good price
i "think" sata II is 300mb a second....and most magnetic drives are around 100-150mb a second and the ssd drives get close to 300mb so only ssd drives would get close to 300mb a second

I've read they are all backwards compatible with SATA II. You will just get SATA II speeds. Which is why i'm wanting to find out if the speed difference is worth getting a SATA III card.

well from what i read is that no magnetic hard drives gets even close to what sata II is capable off anyway only the SSD drives benefit from sata III

so all in all not really worth the extra money (if it costs more that is)

oh wanted to ask whats the specs of your machine now ?

hmmm maybe i should just get a small SSD for my OS and a 2TB for Games/MEDIA and backups.

yeah would cost alot though ...i have a ssd drive for boot works ok but in hindsight wish i had gone for the space rather then speed

Perhaps a 250gb/500gb hybrid drive and then a large drive might be a good idea

I've seen some SSD drives go for ?40 for a 32GB. That should be more than enough for just the OS and a couple of programs.

yeah would be a good idea

though have to say have been having a few problems recently....dont know if its drive related or windows 7 related but started to happen where when i click on a program does not load and i have to reboot (i have a intel value drive i think its called )

So if i do go for an SSD i should really invest in a SATA III card?

Trying to get all my answers together for when i get paid on friday.

for me personally i wouldnt reason being a ssd drive on sata II in my experience is a hell of alot faster then what normally i am used to anyway and i think only the more expensive ssd drives take advantage of sata III

how much is a sata III card ?

?20, so they aint much. I probably won't need to anyway, the lower price SSD drives seem to be SATA II anyway.
