SNES - doesn't work with pads in...

    Strange one.

Thought I'd get my SNES down from the loft (it's the one that came with Super Street Fighter).

It works fine but when you plug pads in they don't work. I have 4 pads and none of them work (2 offical, 2 3rd party). They can't all be broke?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Inside the console, the pad sockets are on a board that connect to the main motherboard by a ribbon cable.

I'm guessing the contacts may have corroded a bit inside the console? I got hold of a bunch of dead snes consoles last year and one looked awful on the ribbon cable connector, took a bit of cleaning up and re-soldering.

If you're able to look inside, see if it is that. IF you do take it apart, remember to switch the console temporarily after you have unplugged it from the wall, the power LED will flash to show you the console has discharged, otherwise you could blow the internal fuse.
