Yeah, that's right, forgot to mention it's mobile broadband, I'm using T-mobile too... What did you do in the end then?
I've tried turning off the Power save stuff Abigsmurf, but still no joy, dunno, I've tried tampering with stuff and only seem to have made things worse! I'm DLing Sega All Star Racing through Direct2drive so I don't want to restart my laptop or risk the DL being messed up since the last time i restarted it I had to start the DL again from scratch.
Steam seems to be light years ahead of D2D.

You're question's similar enough for it to be acceptable! I suppose it might be easier, it kinda seemed like mobile broadband was getting in the way of setting up the wifi...
I think you need a virtual/software access point, I tried Connectify, but didn't get on very well. So try googling and DLing a Soft AP and let me know how you get on!

What mode do you run it in then? Any tips for how to get it running on my laptop then? It's got 802.11 b/g/n...
I DLed a few things, Connectify, Driver Detective and something else and ended up getting a blue screen and reset evey time I tried to get on the net, so I uninstalled them and the mobile broadband stuff and reinstalled the mobile broadband stuff and it's been fine, dunno if it was just me messing about with the broadband settins - probably was!
If I can't get a Soft AP working, would a USB wireless dongle work ok with a Windows 7 laptop and mobile broadband? I imagine it would, but I'd have thought the Soft AP route should work...

Just fired it up, it's AP mode that isn't supported (it's configured for "Ad-Hoc, WEP"). However, for some reason it won't start the hotspot for me now.

Thanks, I actually gave the Ad-Hoc WEP mode a go, with no luck - the PSP didn't find the network when I tried to scan for it, and it didn't find it when I entered the details manually either. This might be a limitation of the PSP though - I was trying to connect to the PlayStation Store though - does the Ad-Hoc mode only work with games on the PSP?

Yeah, I think that's the problem unfortunately. Certain adapters support infrastructure mode (there used to be a list on the Connectify website (you can click the "AP mode not supported" link on the application to take you there) but the link seems to be dead), but it doesn't seem to be many.
