    Cant save net pics

When i go to grab a picture off the net (right click/save picture) it saves it but then when i go to open it its not there. 'No preview available'. Cant open it up in Photoshop or anything. Why is it doing this?

It might be a problem with installed program files in IE. This is what causes the "only able to save as bmp" problem.

Tools > Internet Options > Settings (in the Temporary Internet Files section) > View Objects.

Here you have a list of all the IE plugins you've installed. If any of them have a status other than "Installed" delete them. They are probably corrupted. Now restart IE and see if that fixes it. If not, delete the "Installed" ones also (Don't worry. You can redownload them as and when you need them you need them.) restart IE and see if this fixes it.

Thanks man, I've got the 'only able to save as bmp' problem and just assumed it was because I didn't have any graphics packages installed. I'll get that sorted as soon as I get home

Well thats odd, (Ive got no plugins in View objects btw) instead of using Aol i opened Explorer and i can grab images no problem. Seems bizarre that i cant do it with Aols browser. Thanks anyway.

That's partially because AOL's browser runs off Netscape

I think it runs off Internet Explorer now... but I might be wrong.
I should know, since I use the bloody thing, but I never use the internal browser! Hahaha!
            Does anyone know for sure?

Not sure but ive had no problems with the Aol back home or on me old pc....

Maybe i'm missing something. Are there any essential plugins or ones that do special stuff? and where would one get these from?

Nope. There's nothing you'd be needing. The IE image plugin is part of the program. It's only when you download a rogue plugin that the code gets over-ridden and the image problems might occur.

Have you updated IE to the latest patched version? Windows Update is the place to go.
