Good reasons for chipping my PS2?

Just got a PAL silver PS2 and was wondering what I'm missing out on by not chipping it? Apart from pirate games obviously. Any "must have" Jap shooters or the like?

Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n'Music, decent Dance Dance Revolution games and other Bemani.

The Sega AGES 2500 series.

All those niche gems that rarely get a US or PAL release.

Also play games before they're released in europe in full screen 60hz.

On a similar note, is it better/cheaper to get a chipped PAL machine or a chipped US / Jap one?

better to get a chipped pal machine, so you dont have the need for a power convertor but theres no difference really

The only other difference is that US/JP consoles can't play PAL DVD movies (not even with Region X, etc.), but PAL consoles can play both NTSC and PAL DVD movies - but of course that only matters if you plan to watch DVDs with it.

Don't think it's a factor for the PS2 titles.
