    Cleaning an N64 controller

Picture the scene. Luscious red N64 controller promises Lylat Wars 2 player joyfulness, only to be buggered by gunky analogue stick. Is there a right way to fix this mess?

No, but it is a royal pain in the arse dissassembling/reassembling the actual analogue stick.

i've done this to quite a few of my n64 controllers. it's not that difficult as long as you memorize how all the bits go back together! i took all the moving parts of the joystick out and ran them under the tap, left them to dry and put them back together. worked quite well, although they'll never be as sensitive as when they're new even after cleaning

As above, but use cotton buds and very vaguely soapy water. Take all the buttons out aswell and clean them while youre at it. It seems sweat and coke are mystically drawn to the sides of buttons and make them sticky. (Not sure if there is any in the N64 pad) but clean any rubber thats in the pad also.
