Animal Crossing Connection problems

I have a us AC, a japanese link cable and a pal Gameboy SP

It doesn't want to load however, any ideas?

What are you trying to do mate?

Try making sure its all plugged in before you turn the machine on.

There is no difference in the regions of the link cable/GBA so its got nothing to do with conflicting regions.

Are you trying to get to the island?
If so, you need to connect your GBA when you're down at the docks which should make Cap'n appear in his boat and sing you a nice ditty...

Considering that's the exact setup I have Strider, it should work...

And the GBA needs to be on when you move into the bottom right acre to go to the island...
