    Dreamcast jerking

Got it out for first time in a long time the other day. Every game seems to jerk once in a while, maybe every 10-20 seconds. Very annoying. It's connected via a VGA box and is unmodified except for the mod to enable the region-changer disk. Never had any problems with it before.

How can I go about fixing this? Hoping the symptom sounds familiar.

Did you disable the mod that allows you to use the region disc changer? Or you might have ****ed up your Dreamcast.

Nope, it always worked fine, that mod is very old. I'm thinking some sort of CD drive issue, laser / transport / foo / bar. Wondering if this problem rang any specific bells.

You should unsolder that wire ASAP. Leaving it connected could seriously bugger up your DC.

I can't remember exactly now, but I think leaving it connected means your DC's internal memory could be accidentally over-written, leaving you with a black swirl of death. The wire enables the CD to over-write it, and leaving it connected means it could happen accidentally, leaving you with a bricked DC.
