    Going to Thailand

Hi, I'm off to Thailand on holiday for a few weeks soon.

Anyone know of some good places to get games from in Bangkok?

I'm looking to get Dreamcast and Gamecube games, including some rareish games.
Also what sort of prices should I expect to pay for games, will they be cheaper like lots of other things in Thailand?

I look forward to your advice people!

Depends where you go really. There are places on the Khao San road which will be a little dodgy, but cheap. You get what you pay for, and then there are 'proper' shops in the shopping malls, but you probably won't make a great saving on their stuff. Was in Thailand this summer, had a great time but not enough money to be buying lots of games unfortunately. Concentrated on DVD's and CD's which I could test there and then (didn't want some dodgy Thai bloke ripping me off did I?).

Found a good game shop in Trat, but that might be a little out of your way, and it probably wasn't really that good, just interesting to see different games and packaging.

I was in Thailand a couple years ago and saw all of two legitimate games. A DC dating sim and FFX and both were ridicilously expensive. Everything is pirated, Thailand is so not the place to get legitimate goods.

        Thanks people

Is there a problem with pirated games for the Gamecube as well as the DC, because I thought they were hard to copy etc..? or are they just as rife as pirated games for other formats?

You probably won't find pirated games for the Cube, simply because - where are you going to buy those discs from? It's not as if you can run down to Dixons and buy a pack of DVD-R's or place an order at Dabs. I imagine you'll find plenty of pirated PS2 stuff if you look hard, but Thailand's reputation as a heaven for pirate copys has meant the authorities have stepped in. DVD's and CD's were easy enough to come by in touristy areas, but I think the only place I saw pirated PS2 games was a little market stall type thing on Ko Tao - kinda place that looks like it could be there one day, gone the next.
