Play n charge - why are they so poor?

I bought a brand new black one probably about 5 months ago at most, it's been used for probably 40hrs at most, and was fine a week ago, now suddenly its dropping out all the time for no reason, acting as if the pad isn't charged yet it says it has 3 bars?

How can they sell these things? They don't seem fit for purpose.

They are pretty poor. A few friends have them and they regularly drop out. Wired pads all the way for me.

It just doesn't make any sense especially as the consoles are all so damn reliable

I've no problem with the slim, seems to be rock solid. But theres something wrong if these play and charge batteries are fine one week and then cock up the next week for absolutely no reason. Grr. I could understand if I bought it used ffs.

I've got two and never noticed any problems. Maybe I need to spend more time obsessively watching them/noting their use in a darkened room.

I've only gone through two battery packs since owning a 360 from January 2006. In fact, I'm still using my second one.

I've owned 3, all have died within 10 hours use.

I might try a 3rd party battery if I ever try again. Use my wired arcade stick 95% of the time now anyway. heh

I had to buy a quick charge kit to remedy this problem, as the 360 was detecting the batteries as fully charged after three to five minutes of being connected and stopped charging them. Stick with a wired pad now if I can, as the lack of "battery bulge" is also quite pleasant.

I've had both of mine for two years and only now are they starting to act up a little... but several quick charge/disconnects get them back charging properly again.

Naturally. When my Xtokki 360 adaptor arrives I'll sell off my other sticks and just use my HRAP2. Hehe

Yes, I really should be playing mass effect 3 with a stick when it comes out, how silly of me.

How do PS2 buttons map via the Xtokki 360? It looks like a neat little adapter (and perfect for using the PS2 Saturn pad on a 360).

I cracked open one of the official play and charge kit batteries a year or so ago and it simply contained 2x 800mah rechargeable batteries.

So I ended up getting these Panasonic Rechargeable Batteries with charger instead from Argos

Buy Product not found at Argos. Thousands of products for same day delivery, or fast store collection.

They are higher capacity 2100mah batteries with a 5yr guarentee and have never suffered from the "discharging when not used" problem I've had with the official microsoft packs.

If anyone gets them and wants some extra batteries for the wii/wii board etc then I got them from here. cheapy cheaps!

All in all they last a LOT longer than any of the official microsoft packs i've used and so far i've noticed no loss of charging power after a years worth of use.

                              Should map as you'd expect.

                              Why play Mass Effect?
