Xbox EEPROM settings - how do i change the region of my Xbox

    Hi there,

Basically I've got a JAP xbox here, which I would like to use on live. I hear that it is possibly to change the EEPROM settings, to make my Xbox a PAL one unti lchanged back other wise, so therefore after this, it would PAL games and go on live with the switch off, and imports with the switch on.

Could anyone help me out with this, and actually confirm that this is possible to go on live etc?

    Cheers, thanks anyone in advance

    Hi,

You need something called the Enigmah videomode switchdisc, but you need to mod the console first , make sure you get the proper switches for inactivating both the chip and locking the HDD.

The switch thingy is acctually embeded in the software package that you install with the Evo-x dash.

    Hope that helped!

    Zsolt

      Thanks for the help though!

Do you have Config Magic installed on your Xbox?

          I do mate -

Is this correct - simply enter in "PAL, Region 4" without the quote marks?

Yeah but you need to a few things first.

            1. Load eeprom
            2. Unlock HD
            3. Edit Eeprom "on the fly"
            4. Change the region to PAL, Region 4
            5. Update Xbox Eeprom
            6. Lock HD

            That should be you.

              Cheers mate, worked a treat

Will this work on live then? Since its originally a JPN Xbox, does the EEPROM for PAL LIVE make a difference?

Thats something I'm not entirely sure of. I just got my JP machine banned but don't know the exact reason. I'll try another eeprom and see it it works.

No probs mate - you didnt leave the chip on did ya?

Dont see any reason why Live shouldnt work I guess, since its now essentially a PAL xbox in every way with the chip off.

I went on live for a whole night with the chip off, but the eeprom switched to ntsc (I have a Pal machine) so far I have not been banned and that was about a month ago.

However, I've not tried it since they've installed the new dash board

Be carefull when going on the dashboard when your chips switched on as it automaticly connects even if your not using live at the time, quite a few people have been caught out by this since micosoft implemented the auto-update feature a month ago to update the dashboard, to be safe only use the microsoft dash when your chips switched off or if your xbox isn't connected to any network, ie no cable in the ethernet socket.
