Bigger HD on Xbox, and still use Xbox Live

I have an Xbox with a standard HD as well as Xbox Live, I would like to fit a bigger HD 120gb and keep Xbox live without being banned, can this be done and how. I have heard the Hard drive needs to be locked, what does this mean. Also could I use a standard HD from PC world in any upgrade to the Xbox.
I also have what I think is the latest edition of the slayers disk and have the facility to FTP my Xbox, would I need anything else to accomplish my goal.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

All you need is a harddrive that can be locked, most 120gb ones can, don' buy one from pc world though, there a scam, buy the harddrive online as you will save quite a lot.

There is a list of lockable hard drives on xbox scene.

If you get a lockable harddrive you can lock it with config magic.

I've got a samsung 160gb which i locked and works fine on xbox live.
