PS2 - Not all discs playing correctly.

    Hi,

I've got a 1.5 years old PS2 (will get version number later - daughter asleep at the moment) that last night decided to stop plating Jak and Daxter. It wouldn't load it at all. Ico is in black and white, GTAVC runs fine as does TS2. Haven't tried any others yet.

Anything I can do to fix this problem?

    Cheers guys

Sounds to me like the usual PS2 laser issue. After time, most PS2 laser's will simply die on you. At first they will have trouble reading cd's, then dvd's, then they just die. Leaving you with a dud PS2.

It might be worth investing in a lens cleaner as dust is a major contributor, other than that, there's not much you can do.

    Good luck!

I wouldn't mind so much except that, apart from GTAVC, it's never been played much (loading times **** me off).

      ****ing Sony ****e

i'd say use a cd lens cleaner first to see if that improves the problem.

ico is in black and white becuase the 60hz mode is ntsc and u need and rgb cable to play it in colour

But the day before on the RGB cable it ran in colour. Any ideas now

I've been through every game I own and it's only Jak that won't play and Ico that's in B&W. 13 games in total (not much I know).

Sony helpdesk said "Never heard of that before. We offer exchanges for ?65." I ask, "Is that for a new console?" They reply, "No ... reconditioned."

Update: Ico now runnning in colour. Don't ask why ... I have no idea.

I'm sure you can buy replacement lasers. Ask the Ps2 modders.
