Recently I got a Japanese Sega Mega Drive console (original version) and controller, but without the necessary cords. Although relatively cheap, perhaps I should have just paid for a complete package in order to prevent the possible headaches to follow:
So what's the easiest and/or the most economical way of getting the AC Adapter and AV cables to match my NTSC-JP Sega Mega Drive?
I don't have a Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast yet so I don't know what the ports look like, but are their AV cables compatible with the Sega Mega Drive console? Accordingly, are Sega Saturn and/or Dreamcast AC Adapters backwards compatible with SMDs?
If SS and/or DC AC/AV cords are backwards compatible with SMDs, then I'll simply wait until I buy an SS and DC.
Furthermore, at the moment I am actually using a 220-240v PAL (to be more specific, Australian) Sega Mega Drive AC Adapter with my Nintendo Super Famicom (100-120v).
What would happen if I plugged a 220-240v PAL SMD to a 100-120v NTSC-JPN SMD? Would it work the same way my Nintendo Super Famicom did or would it sabotage its own kind (i.e. blow up the console)?
If the options above are not possible, then I'll have to buy a local SMD AV cable and import a NTSC-JP AC Adapter separately.
