Anyone have any idea where I can have a looksie before I think about buying one? It's for a potential LAN and Halo meet.

How do you mean by Looksie? You want to see the unit itself or see it running? Unless you know someone with one, I doubt you'll be able to do either as they are only available online (the decent ones).

I can vouch for the results though which are simply stunning. Everyone with an XBox should get a VGA box.

I meant to say that I wanted a pic or description, and a price for it. It's only because you can't really play 4 player Halo on a 14" portable, but can on a 17" monitor.

Okay, well I'd describe it as near essential. I haven't encountered a game that can't use VGA and they all look better for it. Because its prog scan, everything is effectively running in twice the vertical resolution. Images look much sharper and jaggies are much less evident. Smoother all round.

I have one of the older VGA boxes and I consider it a must. The best of the bunch is supposed to be the X2VGA adapter. Check out this link here for opinions:

You can make a vga cable cheaply by modifing an original av cable and then using pixel8"s vga bios, there are some details on how to do this on the xboxhacker.net forums, Its quite simple to make especially if your monitor can sync on green. Its also meant to be better quality then the transcoders you can by online but I haven't noticed a difference.

If you want one i could sell you mine quite cheapy as i been useless to me since i haven't been able to get the video selector for my old xbox mod chip to work resulting in only PAL launch games working.

its cost me about ?55, i'll sell for ?20+?3 for P&P
basically you should know that if you have normal unmodded xbox only games like Halo, DoA3, Amped etc,etc will work. You can only get full potential with a modded Xbox and a video selector.
