is there anypoint in me getting my xbox chipped?

i was going to get my xbox chipped but then i downloaded dream snes for my dreamcast and there are a host of other emulators avaliable for the dreamcast also i can get divx player for it.

playing media files and emulators are the main reasons for chipping my xbox and know i don't know if should scrap the chipping idea and stick with the dreamcast or get the xbox chipped
if the xbox is better aka better speeds more media excepted i will get a mod over the dreamcast

    thankyou for any help

An unmodded Xbox is a complete and utter turd.

A modded Xbox is stunning, possibly the best console available. Mine is currently playing a shoutcast stream out my surround system.

Get it modded. You won't be disappointed.

I wouldn't say an unmodded Xbox is utter turd but a modded machine does have uses (even if dedicated PCs can do the same thing better) and it seems like you have your mind more or less made up.

Chipping a machine *is* harmless so why not give it a shot?

hi. emulators for the dreamcast arn't very good they don't run at full speed not all games can be played on them, don't get me wrong there good on the DC but the xbox is a step up from the DC for emulators.

I would get 2nd XBOX modded and leave alone the original one.

you can fit a bigger HD and then you'll have no probs with bigger files.

the trouble wasn't the space but the buffering speed sorry i didn't explain it clearly enough but you reminded me to get a bigger hd where's the best place to get them?

The XB won't have any problem with big files, most of the divx I've watched on it has been 600 to 900MB and it works just fine and dandy and is nice and smooth

With regards to the emu side, the xbox rules-I've spent the last few days playing Donpachi, Dodonpachi and Guwange which I didn't know existed before I got my XB chipped-although I can't wait to get the PCBs, its a nice stop-gap
Then there's all the other emu's, basically every pre-psx console is emulated to a pretty high standard
