    PS3 Video Playback Jerky / Choppy

    I'm trying to watch a video on my PS3. It's an .avi with the following stats (from mplayer on my PC):

    VIDEO: [XVID] 720x400 12bpp 23.976 fps 709.6 kbps (86.6 kbyte/s)
    Clip info:
    Software: VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release)
    Load subtitles in /media/Lexar/
    ================================================== ========================
    Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
    Unsupported PixelFormat 61
    Unsupported PixelFormat 53
    Selected video codec: [ffodivx] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG-4)
    ================================================== ========================

    Yet, it's really choppy, too much so to watch. First I tried it over my WiFi router / PS3 Media Server - no good. Tried it on a USB key direct in the PS3, better but no dice. Most surprisingly of all, I copied it from the USB key to the PS3 hard drive and it was *still* choppy in places, sound dropouts etc.

    Any advice? This is really confusing me.

    PS The forum editor doesn't work on the Chromium browser, I wonder if it works on Chrome.
