Problems with New Xbox 360 Slim

I've recently acquired a new system and have been having problems with the controller that came with the console. Basically, anytime the system goes to a cut scene, or where the lights on the controller rotate, the controller turns itself off. No idea why its happening. I swapped battery packs with a controller from my old system and that seemed to work fine for a while, but the problem has returned.

And one other thing I am not clear on. Should controllers from the old system work with the new slim console. If so, mine don't.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

You have to resume your old pads ( press little sync button on top of pad and press the black button than it part of the IR sensor on the console. Lights will flash and spin and it will all sync up)
Might be worth trying with your new pad too

The lights on the controller rotate when your batteries are nearly depleted. You need to charge the battery to stop it turning off.

Somehow I suspect you know this, but the way you wrote it there made it sound like you don't.

And the battery packs lose charge over time, to a point where they are practically useless.

If you have a USB charging cable and the pad work fine whilst connected to the console, either play that way or buy a new battery pack.

I still have three bars left on the battery, so I assumed it wasn't that. The problem has been there since I got the console with the pre-packed batteries as well. And I have noticed the lights rotate at other times, even on my old console when the battery was fully charged.

I made a thread about 360 controller problems, with standard batteries they sometimes lose contact for a tiny moment and that stops the controller, and with battery packs they die often (I had the official one which lasted for just a couple of months). Since then I have used wired pads but need to get a decent battery pack, seen the Duracell ones but have no idea how good they are. Some people have used DIY solutions to fix the problem.

Thanks man. I''m glad I'm not the only one to noticed this. I've synched my old controllers so i think I'll go with those for a while as I know they work.

No problem, it was driving me nuts when it first happened. Still ticks me off, to this day, that I can't use the wireless controllers I have unless I solve the problem.

Found this online, it might help...

For the XBox 360 Slim I believe the problem is with the Remote Control settings. Here is how to change them.

                  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 Slim and your controller.

                  2. Take the batteries out of the controller and put them back in.

                  3. WHILE THE CONSOLE IS OFF hold down the big X button on the controller, this will turn on the console and force-sync the controller to it.

                  4. Go to the System Settings option on the XBox 360 dash board.

                  5. Navigate to Console Settings->Remote Control.

                  6. Deselect the “Both Remotes” option: i.e; select the “XBox 360 Media Remote” option.

This helped me with the synch issues, hope it helps some of you too. This XBox 360 slims seem to be a real bitch with the wireless controllers.
