    Crysis and Frames Per Second

As some of you may have read I recently installed a GTX 570 and to test that out I ran a few demanding games. All of which performed very well.
However Crysis is proving difficult yet I don't know why. No matter what graphical settings I adjust the game to it runs below 30fps which is well below the spec of my system and the video card.
I've even tried running on the lowest resolution with the lowest settings and still the same. It seems like it's locked itself to a low rate. Does anyone know what I'm on about?

Have you still got V synch on?

      This.

If your rig can't reach 60fps (and it probably can't) then your system will halve your fps to maintain v-sync and give you 30fps.

Can you tell us the rest of your spec? CPU, RAM, Monitor (+ cable used to connect to monitor)?

      Ta.

I've tried v-sync both on and off and the result is oddly the same.
I can run battlefield 3 at 1080 at over 60fps on high settings. My old GTX 460 ran it better than my new card.

        My setup is
        i5-760 (2.8ghz)
        4gb ram
        GTX 570

Most odd. Can you run some software that'll log the load and temperature of the gfx card (CPU too while you're at it) while you are playing the game and post your results?

Yep, temps seem to be stable and average when running it. I can't see it being a hardware issue as I play a lot of other newer games and no heating or crashes at all with regard to that.

Check your Nvidia control panel to make sure it isn't overiding Crysis' in-game settings with V-Synch. Force it off if you have to.

I want the load settings too i.e. is Crysis actually pushing your card to its limits? It should be. Either Crysis isn't pushing the card to do the best it can or your card is doing the best it can. We need to know the load the card is being put under when running the game in order to establish the soource of the problem. Malc might be onto something also.

It seems to be a resolution problem.

I just tested a few settings. First I ran the game maxed (very high + highest AA) out at 1920x1080 and it ran with a poor frames per second. I then ran it again with the lowest graphical settings (low) with the same resolution and it ran EXACTLY the same poor fps.

I then chose a standard resolution of 1024x768 and put the settings to very high again. The game flew past 100fps.

I find that any resolution above 1024x768 with any level of graphic settings kills the fps. Even with the settings put on low with no AA the fps don't change or improve at all.

What's strange is, if the card was being pushed surely I'd notice a few frames increase/decrease when sticking with a resolution and cranking up and down the graphical settings.

Secondly my GTX570 runs games like Witcher 2, Battlefield 3 almost at 1920x1080 flawlessly. As tough as Crysis is on systems I don't think it's that much far ahead of even those newer games.

I can't think of an answer...

Still wanting to know what your monitor is.

Monitor is a Benq 1920x1080 screen which I use the standard DVI connection.

                      And Stop....

I just realised that I'm not actually using my monitor but my living room TV, a 1080p Panasonic Viera.. I just switched back to my monitor and bam silky smooth on pretty much very high settings at high resolutions. Apart from highlighting the obvious mistake why would my TV limit Crysis? yet not other games...

See I ask these questions for a reason! When connected to an HDTV crysis thinks it needs to limit the framerate to 1080p HDTV standards. Glad it's sorted dude

Don't be! You can now enjoy a fantastic game that at max settings today, still looks better than most new PC games released....

With MODS, it even looks better!
