P.N.03 final boss

on easy this one was really... easy but on normal that spider-thing is completely owning me.
I can get it down to about half it's health (i've tried about 30 continues now), but that's about it.
A strange thing i noticed is that when you're behind the low ridge of the platform, sometimes he can hit you (with the lasers / black instand-death thingies) and sometimes he can't.

Can anyone please give me any good tips on how to beat this thing?

Once he's hurt down to halfway and is about to do his lasers, use the invincibilty energy drive* and then again when he goes for his laser attacks. Keep shooting as much as you can during these times.

(* I've no idea what the move it called or what suit has it as i did it about 6months ago i cant remember )
