the good news is though that this will end the monopoly that the Royal Mail have and competing companies will be invited to run the postal service.

Is it just me, or is "when the Government is seriously considering giving away your monopoly, causing massive redundancies" a pretty bad time to strike, by the way?

Certainly, every London business that can is currently in the process of shifting everything it can to other courier agencies.

ok, great minds think alike. Or the stupidity and predictability quote. One of the two.

yup - they are complete idiots for doing this they have no idea the danger they have put the RM in.

All their orders that use the super saver delivery are sent by courier aren't they? Last time I used it the parcel had a securicor sticker on it.

                D'oh!

And, more importantly, phew. I've got a camera, Psyvariar and F-Zero on the way from them.

                  Looking for someone to blame?

Then blame the militant union members who operate from the London sorting offices.

Me too. So they definitely have had their stock of it?

As for the postal situation it looks to be getting worse. Post boxes have been sealed up due to the sheer volume of mail they need to process.

I'm in Manchester so it doesn't directly involve me in some instances (I still get me junk mail and bills), anybody know if packages from Tronix and NCS are usually shipped through London Village on the way to Sunny Manchester amd as a result will be affected?

Imports usually come through Langley International. Which started striking yesterday too. According to that BBC link, its not everyone there, and so its just moving slowly, but I wouldn't hold your breath...

Its a total joke, I've got a massive amount of mail that I'm short of and the wife has loads of stuff pending re her name change [ we just got married ].

The militants in London are terrible. My old flat mate is a manager at the RM and the stories he used to tell me are just staggering. Not that the RM are totally blameless but the bullying from these militants is just out of order. They don't realise that they have +very+ little public support.

My wife's driving license is somewhere in the postal system for the same reason (congrats by the way to both of you). My uncle used to be a manager for the area too, until he resigned because it was such a horrible atmosphere to work in. Nothing good for the strikers can come of this; even if they 'win' it will just hasten the point where they lose the monopoly and all get laid off anyway. All striking does is give management an excuse to minimise redundancy payments.

I'm in the North-East and haven't seen a postman since last weekend (Though I do live in a fairly quiet area down the end of a farm road).
I'm also waiting on some stuff from dvdpacific which is now a few days late.

                              Bummer.
Well as long as it dosent get lost in the backlog I'm not too worried. I can wait a while longer for my DVD's.

I don't know, I'm only guessing. I got my copy of RS3 last Friday so they are still sending stuff out, but I haven't been able to reach them on the phone for a week either.
