Yep. You can strip the casing off the Original Hdd and install it in an S.
There will be a gap so you'll either have buy a third party casing or jam some sweet wrappers in there.
If you bought an S with a hard drive then it would be easier to just transfer over with a cable.
*shrug* but I doubt the hdd noise would be any different.
S's can be quiet (depends on which old 360 you have for comparison) but the power supplies with the S's can be hella noisy. If it would be placed behind the AV stand then it wouldn't be an issue.
