    3-4 great games

My new pc is being delivered tommorow. I havent bought a pc game for 2-3 years, very out of touch with whats good on the pc, been a console freak for the last 15 years!

Can someone recommend 3-4 really good games that are out on the pc now which I could buy on saturday? I've got half life ut2003 and quake 3 but i would like some other games.

    Any recommendations?

I tent to play stuff with is either LAN or online these days, so this'll be slightly biased, but I'll recommend:

        Age of Mythology
        American Conquest
Battlefield 1942 (and the latest Desert Combat mod)
        MOH:AA
        Tron 2.0

No One Lives Forever 2 is also supposed to be rather spiffing.

Medieval Total War is a lot of fun. Thats sucked away hours of my time.

No One Lives Forever 2 is, as Garibaldi Biscuit suggests, also very good. In fact I think thats my favourite single player focused FPS on the PC of recent times.

                Civ 3. Of course .

Homeworld 2 - beautiful looking and quite challenging. Particularly if you haven't played the first one.

Neverwinter Nights is pretty good. But as a single player experience I think Baldur's Gate I and II beat it. And Planescape beats the lot. But those last three are quite old now.... maybe, maybe not what your looking for.

Another vote for No One Lives Forever 2... such an enjoyable game and very well put together apart from some occasionally iffy AI.

Other PC games I've been playing recently that I'd recommend are:

                  Neverwinter Nights
                  Homeworld 2
                  Max Payne 2

Max Payne 2's a must if you want to see a little eye candy running on your new machine and it's good fun if a little short lived.

As for older games then the likes of System Shock 2 and Deus Ex are a must as well as titles like Grim Fandango, the Monkey Island Series and if you can find it Outlaws, a western based FPS from Lucasarts.

If you are totally new to the PC, you should check out these 3 FPS games without fail

                    Quake 3 Arena

                    Deus Ex

                    Half Life

I heartily concur with the recommendations of Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and Planescape Torment. While they are suffering now graphically ( to differing extents ), the ammount of gameplay each offers cannot be ignored, particularly Planescape which I honestly consider to be one of the finest RPGs of all time.

Plus! If you do decide to invest in System Shock 2, be sure to visit this webpage - http://perso.wanadoo.fr/etienne.aube...ck_rebirth.htm.

The author of said page has created new, downloadable skins for the creatures and crew members in SS2, and while I haven't tried them myself they appear, from screenshots, to be quite excellent.

I've added that patch to my system shock 2 install and I have to say it does make a difference to the game!

                          8) I would consider Vietcong. Its not a big name title but it is amazing. If you love the thought of a reaslistic FPS set in the jungle, then snap-it-up NOW!!!

I've just got a new comp too and I'm enjoying Max Payne 2, Homeworld 2 and Soldier of Fortune 2 at the moment. There's some decent games coming out soon like Broken Sword 3, Worms 3D (come on you know you like it), Call of Duty and Star Wars Galaxies (for Europe) gonna be a good few months 8)

                              Rainbow Six: Raven Shield
                              Unreal Tournament 2003
                              Operation Flashpoint
                              Half Life

Not sure what you have and haven't playd so here's a mix of old and new.
