What steps should I consider before transferring data from PS3 to PS3

Due to the inland revenue charging me more tax than usual (thanks) and then receiving a rebate of sorts in form of a cheque repayment (thanks this time for real) I've decided to splurge a purchase on a PS3 slim. There's only so long I can live with a 40 GB console that's seemingly heading six feet under pretty soon.

As some saves are locked to the system, I'm going to have to subscribe to PSN + and stick my Dark Souls save on cloud and recover that way.

Is there anything else I should do before I transfer all my content across?

There is a console to console transfer process. Not sure if either that or the PSN Cloud stuff can transfer locked saves though.

It will transfer everything if you do the Ethernet transfer (it wipes the original) but copies all protected content both systems need to be on the same firmware though

        Ta for the info chaps.
Will I have to deactivate this current system beforehand? So I don't use up one of my x5 systems on one account?

I think it does it for you, but I'd do it anyway just to be safe. It's only two activations now BTW.
          Kept you waiting, huh?
