My laptop is not working, showing a blank screen only and looks to be a motherboard/cpu issues according to my techie mate. Is it worth repairing or just getting a new one?

What happens when you turn it on exactly? For ?300 you could get something reasonable for web surfing etc. -
HDD fan kicks in but nothing else. We took the ram out to see if it would beep when looking for it. Screen just stays black.Comment

You have a HDD fan? Neat.
Probably a GPU fault. You could try baking the motherboard, otherwise it's new laptop time.
Could sell it on eBay and get a bit of money depending on spec, even broken.Comment

Was also looking at this as a replacement, thing is my laptop is also a Toshiba satellite.
