New Gfx Card

Need to buy a new Graphics card and have a Budget of around ?150 to spend .

What the best card to get for that price ? . Like to play some PC games and do a bit video editing ECT . Any help and pointless would be much appreciated

Think you're looking at 384 core GTX 560ti for that monies or an AMD/ATI 6870.

Best bet is to check http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/ for their deals, updates around 2PM every 2 days and you could score a decent card.

Very pleased with my XFX 6870 Black. I think if you're going to be playing anythign with lots of tesselation though you want an nVidia rather than an AMD card (someone will correct me if this is wrong) although I switched tesselation on in Arkham City and it still ran sweet.

I think he's referring to the (upper) mid-range 78xx series which should provide performance somewhere around (or slightly below) the levels of the current 69xx series. Estimated to be similar in price (c.?200+) although I'm unsure on this and available early March.

Personally, either of the two suggestions Nvidia 560ti or ATI 6870 (not the 6850 which is actually a slower card than the 5850 or 5870) are good choices for ?140-180 range. Of the two I'd choose the 560ti because it tends to have the edge of the two. After that your looking at the 2GB ATI 6950's at around ?210+.

Good choice. If I was buying from scratch again I'd be tempted to go that route. I went with the 6870 because it had displayport connectors and I was dobling up my PC as a hackintosh and the ATI card support was better. Check out the performance different in HAWX 2 between the two cards:

The NVIDIA destroys the 6870 in this game! I think it's the tesselation that does it.

6970 is the one to get now. The 560ti costs a lot more remember.

6970 costs way more (almost ?100) than the 560ti. The 560Ti is ?30-?40 more than a 6870.

Prices have gone up it seems. My Black Edition Twin Fan 6870 was ?132 last year, now even the regular 6870s cost more than that. I think the 560Ti is the sweet spot right now.
