Where to buy a Mac from?

It's for my brother... he needs it for his upcoming photography & design degree thingy that he's doing.
It doesn't have to be a G5, in fact it can't be a G5, as that's far too expensive.
Something for under a grand, including monitor, would be good, but if you have to leave the monitor, then that's how it is.
I'd rather he didn't get an iMac... but that's just the snob in me talking.
Any advice?

try Ebay also pick up a couple of the MAC magazines and look at the ads in the back for shops clearing out stock
if you look on ebay knock about 15-20% off the prices and thats roughly how much you'll find it for in shops
