Sony Bravia KDL32CX520 & Virgin HD

Hi all,

Can anyone advise whether to set my Virgin Media box to 720p or 1080i for output to my Sony Bravia TV? I assume it comes down to which does the better scaling – TV or box (I think most TV is originally 1280x720?)

Just wondering if someone with the same or similar setup did some testing.

It probably won't make a huge difference. Try both and have a look and see what looks better to you.

Some older, cheaper TVs halved the vertical resolution of 1080i - I don't think any newer ones do, but 720p is probably a slightly safer bet.

Like Lyris said, the difference isn't even tangible, particularly @ 32", Ive had Virgin HD since it launched on 4 different sets i've always used 1080i (not 1080i wide as it stretched 4:3 material).

I can see a difference on the menus when I switch between 1080i and 720p, but beyond that the horrid SD broadcasts look **** anyway, so it's negligible.
