A web email account I use has received quite a few emails addressed to me, either in my friend's name, or addressed to him (but to my address). Like an idiot, I clicked on one of them, which was from him but it was spam. It redirected me straight away, but Noscript and my popup blocker stopped the page from loading properly. All it said was something like, 'You would be interested in our great range of products' in a large font in plain text, and my blocker was asking for permission to load the page (NO). I'm worried that I may have been infected by opening the email, would noscript possibly have stopped that? Any advice appreciated.

^I don't know about the noscript stuff, but I wouldn't worry about it, really doesn't sound like anything problematic at all, just your usual spammy, redirecting type of adware.
Just give your PC a quick rinse with SpyBot, AVG/Avast etc. after installing updates, should get rid of any minor crap like the above, assuming it's installed anything into your PC.

Thanks for the advice guys, my AV license lapsed and I haven't updated it yet as it was too system intensive for me. I'm looking for a package that uses less resources, running malware scanners instead for now. Although I still think the virus or malware that does get you will be one that hasn't been identified yet in AV databases / updates.
